To finance and realise the book, we are relying on successful crowdfunding. This has just started at STARTNEXT with the kind support of kulturMut, who will add another 50 cents for every euro of support you give!
Detailed information about the book and the funding options (from 10 €) can be found at:
We would be very happy to receive numerous contributions.
- Four virtual 3-dimensional sculptures and installations integrated into the book by using augmented reality.
- Photos and videos of our projections and performances.
- Text contributions from various perspectives by Erik Büttner, Jan Gerling, Albrecht Haag, Ariane Hackstein, Jens J. Meyer, Ute Ritschel, Dr Eva Schürmann, Chris van Uffelen.
What do I see when I look through my camera?
My eyes are augmented, the levels are falling out into place the pixels touch gently, there is tree there is my hand there is a tissue, what spaces evolve when I move?
There is a tree there is my hand there is a tissue. My body is augmented A branch reaches like my arm like a lens. It was cold by then there was a tree still standing by then, there is a tree, there is my hand, there is a tissue, there is an image on my display It’s almost April, my memory is augmented
Experiment with the superimposition of virtual image and real physical mirror image. Where does virtuality begin?
Is it the processing of data and the conversion into binary code or into a point cloud?
Or does virtualisation start in the mirror itself when light waves are thrown back to the eye and an image is created of us and what surrounds us.
What happens when the image of the camera overlays the image of the mirror?

With a virtual window I want to detach the experience of AR from body-worn devices like glasses or tablets and smartphones.
To do this, I use only a screen or projection. The content on the screen changes with the position of the viewer, giving the impression that one is looking through a window into a room with sculptures. The screen shows the perspective of the viewer in front of the screen.
To create this perspective the position of the viewer has to be filmed with a video camera. With a face recognition the position of the eyes is determined and the screen display is calculated according to the eyes position.
Intermediate spaces and empty spaces are equally important as real space.
Are there also virtual intermediate or empty spaces?
Is a cloud a virtual space?
Do intermediate spaces exist in a cloud?
Normally, VTW Vermessungstechnik West GmbH uses this technology to document industrial plants and buildings without current construction maps. Here we manage to capture art and make it available as a scale model for other perspectives.
augmented spaces – real artworks virtually extended – a dialog between the real and the virtual world.
An international team of creative minds researching to transform physical art-installations into 3-D virtual artworks using augmented and mixed reality. Our goal is to transport site specific installations into different virtually augmented spaces. Performing arts and music can be integrated to create an unique experience. augmemented spaces is an open international research project in process-orientated collaboration.
